In his introduction of this book, Fr. Chad Ripperger states that “vast majority of Catholic universities courses on Scriptures are rife with modernism.  Most scripture scholars reject Pius X’s observation that the life of Christ and the Scriptures themselves are divine.  The pope recounts how the modernist authors reject tradition, which affirms that the names of various books correspond to the true authroes of those books.”

Chapter XIII of the Life of Christ by Giuseppi Ricciotti was, perhaps, the best short description of the flow of the history revolving around the question of the intellectual and theological collapse regarding the interpretation of Scripture. Anyone who has studied Scripture in a Catholic educational institution, whether it is a seminary or a university, will notice the common themes in the text. This book is chapter XIII of his text and provides a historical overview of how Scripture studies got to the point where there is no belief in the supernatural elements of the Scriptures and in some cases a complete dismissal of entire books of the Bible.
