THE CARMELITE SIX-DECADE ROSARY: A GUIDE WITH MEDITATIONS

The scriptural rosary is a modern version of how the rosary began to be said in the late Middle Ages (1425-1525).

For each Hail Mary a different verse from the Bible that pertains to the mystery would be recited or focused upon. One of the benefits of using Biblical, or other meditations is that one does not have to tax their imagination and can focus on the reflection versus having their mind wander. 

In this way the rosary incorporates vocal prayer, reading/lectio, and imagination to both pray and meditate on scenes from the life of Our Lord and His holy mother. If one cannot focus on the mystery or finds themselves in a dry period using the rosary, the use of written meditations is a good way to re-engage and enrich their use of this prayer. The author has chosen to use a variety of meditations from the Bible, Papal Encyclicals, homilies, and quotes of living, blessed, and canonized Carmelites.
