Father Albert Hublet was a Belgian Jesuit who wrote children novels. In this book, Father Hublet narrated the story of a ten year old boy, Jacky, who was not killed when A bomb from a German air-raid destroyed a Limousine when passing through a French village. Jacky was one of the occupants of this limousine and all the other occupants with him died. Claire Arcueil, a Belgian nurse who has been trapped in the village since the outbreak of war, rescues the boy from the wrecked car and nurses him back to health. A tender affection forms between the two and when things settle down after the Armistice, Claire brings the boy back to Belgium with her. While Jacky settles with the Arcueil family, a rich couple from Brussels unexpectedly claims guardianship on him, being an orphan. In his new luxurious Brussels home, Jacky is confronted with comfort and boredom – everything inclines him to compromise on what Claire has taught him. Jacky is now tasked to resist and make correct choices amidst a corrupted surrounding. Will he be strong enough to do this?
