This book was written with intentions to be read as an encouragement to the tradition of LECTIO DEVINA, a form of monastic prayer. It begins with the reading of the sacred text aloud (THE LECTIO), followed by meditation (MEDITATIO), that is, a consideration of important words, images, and occurrences. The author, Dr Fendt, recorded meditation (meditation) and oratio (prayer). He leaves it to the reader to join with his and her own oratio and contemplation on each of the chapters of Job. Dr Fendt originally wrote the book as a chapter by chapter reflections on the Book of Job, while the author’s father was dying in a distant state. The book offers a way to recite a very old prayer is the hustle and bustle of everyday living.
