Father Albert Hublet was a Belgian Jesuit who wrote children novels. In this book, Father Hublet created the character, Bernard. Young Bernard was separated from his parents and relatives while fleeing the German invasion of Belgium. He was picked up by a British commando unit led by Lieutenant Frank Goodheart.
